An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Focke-Wulf Fw 189A-1 reconnaissance and observation aircraft in 1:72 scale from ICM. The model faithfully captures the characteristic twin-boom layout with its heavily glazed crew nacelle. The kit comes as a set of plastic parts that have to be cleaned of sprue gates and glued before building.
The Fw 189, nicknamed Uhu (eagle owl), was a twin-engine tactical reconnaissance machine with two tail booms and a glazed nacelle for a three-man crew, which gave an excellent field of view. It was deployed above all on the Eastern Front, where it served for observation, artillery spotting and light combat duties. Thanks to its agility and toughness it was popular with its crews.
Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic. It pays to mask the extensive glazing of the nacelle and spray it separately. A primer forms the base under the paint, and an airbrush handles the final coat best. A German camouflage scheme comes out well with the panel lines lightly brought out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
