This injection-molded plastic kit captures the German E-100 super-heavy tank, the largest vehicle of the German Entwicklung series. Even in the small 1:72 scale the massive hull, the wide tracks and the disproportionately large turret are immediately apparent on the model. The kit is made by Trumpeter.
Toward the end of the war the Entwicklung series was to unify German armored vehicles into a few weight classes with as many common parts as possible. The E-100 stood at its top and its weight was estimated at around 140 tons. The design of the turret came from Krupp and allowed for a powerful 12.8 cm gun completed with a coaxial weapon of smaller caliber. The power plant and transmission were based on those of the Tiger II tank and were therefore underpowered for such a weight. By the end of the war only an unfinished hull without a turret had been built, which British units found in 1945; the vehicle never went into action.
The large flat surfaces of the hull forgive nothing, so sand the joints carefully and polish them before painting. Use liquid cement for polystyrene on the plastic. Lay the yellow base shade on with an airbrush and only then the mottled camouflage; on a vehicle this large it looks best if the patches are left soft and blurred. A dark wash will bring out the welds and the hatches, and concentrate the pigments on the track runs and the lower part of the hull. Given that the vehicle never served, the color scheme is an open field for your own interpretation.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
