An injection-molded plastic model of the German jet flying wing Horten Go 229 in 1:72 scale from Revell. The model captures the futuristic tailless machine with engraved panel joints, a cockpit and landing gear; the enclosed decals allow it to be finished in period Luftwaffe colors. Thanks to its unusual shape it is a striking piece for a collection of late Second World War aviation.
The design by the Horten brothers (the Go designation refers to the Gothaer Waggonfabrik company, which was to build the machine in series) was among the most advanced German projects of the closing stage of the war. It was a tailless flying wing powered by a pair of Junkers Jumo 004 turbojets, meant to reach high speeds and a low radar signature. Only a few prototypes were built by the end of the war and the type never entered combat.
Glue the parts with modeling cement for plastic, and fit, fill and sand the long wing leading edges carefully into a smooth shape. Apply a primer base before painting and spray with an airbrush in thin coats; the smooth surfaces of a flying wing reward an even coat and a gentle accent of the panels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
