Injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet jet bomber Il-28 in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model has finely engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit and a glazed navigator-bombardier station, a well-rendered bomb bay and detailed landing gear bays. The package includes clear parts and a decal sheet with several marking options.
The Il-28 was the first Soviet jet bomber produced in large series and for many years formed the backbone of frontline bomber aviation. It was powered by two jet engines in wing-mounted nacelles, and the crew consisted of a pilot, a navigator-bombardier in the glazed nose and a radio operator-gunner in the tail turret. The type served with numerous allied countries and was also license-built by China as the Harbin H-5.
Glue the parts with a thin liquid cement for plastic, which wicks into the seams without obscuring detail. Apply a primer before painting; a natural-metal duralumin finish is best handled with an airbrush. Mask the nose and cockpit glazing and paint it last, highlight the panel lines with a dark wash, and unify the surface with a matte topcoat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
