LööK for the Ju-52 in 1:72 scale

A set from the LööK range for the Junkers Ju-52 transport aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but a cockpit accessory: it combines a finished colored resin instrument panel with photo-etched steel seat belts. Both are among the features that remain visible through the glazing once the cockpit is closed, and at the same time the ones where the difference between a plastic part and a specialized accessory tells most. The manufacturer has designated the set for the Airfix kit.

What the set solves

An instrument panel from a kit tends to be flat and is dealt with by a decal, which ripples on an uneven surface. A resin panel comes with the dial faces rendered and finished in color, so the most laborious part of a cockpit falls away. Steel belts are stronger than brass ones, they keep their shape once bent and can be thrown naturally over the seat back, which on a thing this small looks surprisingly convincing.

Building tips

Try the parts dry while the cockpit is open. Glue the resin panel with super glue, bend the steel belts over the edge of a ruler and shape them with tweezers. If you are going to clear coat anything, use a matte varnish in a thin coat so that the rendered dial faces are not flooded.
