Injection-molded plastic model of the Japanese army fighter Nakajima Ki-27a (Type 97) in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian brand ICM. The a version is the early production variant of this monoplane with fixed landing gear.
The Ki-27 (Allied code name Nate) was the main fighter of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force at the end of the 1930s. It was a light monoplane with fixed spatted landing gear that stood out for its exceptional agility. It proved itself in the fighting over China and in the border clashes with Soviet-built aircraft over Mongolia, where it was a serious rival to the I-15bis and the I-16. Agility and low weight were among its main strengths.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic, and fill and sand the joints of the fuselage. The fixed spatted landing gear offers room for nice detail. Lay down a primer before painting. Metal areas will look right for the period in shades of aluminum as well as in field camouflage. A gloss clear coat under the decals will keep their edges from lifting, and a matte clear coat will even out the look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
