A plastic kit of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3 fighter in 1:72 scale from Revell. A new mold with a low part count.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the best-known German fighter of the Second World War in 1:72 scale. It is a new Revell mold, not a reissue of an old kit. The manufacturer rates it at skill level 3, recommends it from the age of ten and gives a part count of roughly fifty, so it belongs among the simpler models of this type.
The Bf 109 of the E series, nicknamed Emil, was the main German fighter in the fighting over Poland, France and Britain. It was powered by a Daimler-Benz V12 engine with direct fuel injection, thanks to which the engine did not cut out even under negative g. The E-3 version carried two cannons in the wing in addition to the two machine guns above the engine. The protruding radiators under the wing, the strut-braced horizontal tail and the angular cockpit glazing are typical of the Emil.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and check the wing seating surfaces dry before gluing. It is better to paint and mask the cockpit before the fuselage is closed. German schemes from 1940 rest on two shades of gray on the upper surfaces and a light shade underneath; the transitions are best done with an airbrush over a coat of filler primer. Spray a gloss clear coat under the decals and unify the surface with a matte one once it has dried.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
