An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet supersonic MiG-25 in the RB version, that is in the reconnaissance bomber modification. The model in 1:72 scale comes from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM and is a modern mold with a finely engraved surface. The package holds plastic sprues and decals, which make it possible to build machines of the Soviet Air Force as well as an aircraft in Iraqi markings.
The MiG-25 came out of the Mikoyan design bureau at the end of the 1960s as a high-flying machine capable of around three times the speed of sound. Its airframe is largely welded from steel, because ordinary alloys would not have stood the aerodynamic heating at such speeds. The RB version came about alongside the fighter variant and combined reconnaissance equipment in the nose with the ability to carry bombs. Machines of this modification served in the Soviet Air Force and were also delivered abroad, among others to Iraq and Syria. The combination of a high flight level and speed was to make sure the aircraft avoided being hit.
Finish the cockpit and the nose section and close them up before you close the fuselage, because on slender fuselages there is no going back to it later. The long longitudinal seams on the fuselage and on the engine nacelles deserve careful filling and sanding, as they otherwise spoil the otherwise clean shapes. Mask the canopy with strips of tape or with a masking set and spray it together with the airframe. Spray a gloss varnish before the decals and, once it has dried, even everything out with a matte or satin overcoat. Apply the metallic shades at the rear around the nozzles only at the end, as they are harder to overspray and to mask.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
