The model has a bubble canopy with a good view, finely engraved surface detail, and the box usually also holds underwing stores - rockets and drop tanks. It is a well shaped kit of medium difficulty. The enclosed instructions state the exact contents of the package and the marking schemes.
The P-47M was the fastest production version of the massive Thunderbolt. It came about at the end of the war as an answer to fast German targets - flying bombs and jet machines - and received a more powerful form of the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine with a turbocharger. It was a heavy, rugged fighter with eight machine guns in the wings, able to absorb considerable damage. The P-47M version was used by the famous 56th Fighter Group of the US Army in the closing stage of the fighting over Western Europe.
Paint the cockpit before you close up the fuselage and clean the sprue gates off the parts. Lay a primer on the plastic. Late Thunderbolts often flew in a natural metal finish - for a convincing result use a smoothly sanded gloss base and a modeling metallic paint; a masked matte scheme is the alternative. Pick the engraved detail out with a wash. Glue the rockets and the drop tanks on only after the base painting. Mix the metallic paint thoroughly and apply it at the end, because it is harder to overspray and mask.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
