The German fighter monoplane Pfalz E.IV in 1:72 scale from ICM. A plastic kit of an aircraft of the First World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of a German single-seat fighter monoplane of the early period of the First World War. Monoplanes with the wing braced by wires led to a pylon above the fuselage were the first generation of true fighters, that is of machines with a gun firing through the propeller disc. The Pfalz E.IV belonged to their last representatives, because as early as during 1916 higher-performing biplanes replaced them. For a modeler it is a subject from a period that appears in kits markedly less often than the later famous types.
The Pfalz E.IV was a single-seat fighter monoplane with a rotary engine. A rotary engine is a design in which the whole engine turns together with the propeller around a fixed crankshaft. It cooled itself that way, but its spinning mass exerted a strong torque on the aircraft, so the machine turned willingly in one direction and very unwillingly in the other. Pilots learned to make use of that. The wing had no movable ailerons and was controlled by warping the rear part of the lifting surface.
Seat the wing exactly level and stretch the bracing wires only after varnishing. Try the pylon above the fuselage and its braces dry in advance. Paint the rotary engine and fit it before you close the cowling. You can imitate the fabric surfaces with a thin coat and a subtle difference of tone, not with a pronounced change of color. The machines of that time were mostly in natural linen and varnished wood, not in camouflage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
