The Soviet light bomber Su-2 in 1:72 scale from ICM. A plastic kit of an aircraft of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the Soviet two-seat light bomber which stood at the beginning of one of the best-known design bureaus. The Su-2 was the first production machine of its creator and it served in the first months of the German invasion of the Soviet Union. That is precisely why it is a subject that belongs in scenes from the summer and autumn of 1941, from the period when the Soviet Air Force suffered its heaviest losses. The manufacturer of the kit is the Ukrainian brand ICM.
The Su-2 was a single-engined two-seat aircraft with a pilot and a gunner in a rotating turret. It was powered by an air-cooled two-row radial engine, which was usual with Soviet bombers of that time. Its structure was mixed, with a marked proportion of wood in the rear part of the fuselage. The machine handled decently, but it was too slow and too weakly defended to survive without a fighter escort, of which there was a shortage at the start of the war.
Finish and varnish the cockpit and the gunner's station before you close the fuselage, because the glazing of this type is long and you can see into it. Try the engine and its cowling dry. The wooden parts of the fuselage differed from the metal ones in surface, which can be suggested by a subtle difference of sheen. Soviet machines of 1941 will take more pronounced wear and scuffed paint.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
