About product

Westland Lynx HAS.3 Royal Navy 1:72 (Hobby Boss)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the naval version of the Westland Lynx HAS.3 helicopter in Royal Navy service, in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The box contains parts in light gray plastic, clear glazing and a decal sheet with two marking options. The model has engraved surface texture and a cabin interior.

The real subject

The Westland Lynx is a British twin-engine multipurpose helicopter which first flew in 1971. The shipboard HAS.3 version served with the Royal Navy against submarines and surface targets, for patrol and for rescue tasks from the decks of frigates and destroyers. Thanks to its powerful engines and its agility the Lynx was among the highest performing naval helicopters of its time. The schemes offered include the striking finish of a display team.

Building and painting tips

Join the plastic parts with thin modeling cement. Finish the cabin interior before you close the fuselage. Lay down primer before painting and then spray with an airbrush. The striking display schemes call for careful masking and a gloss coat compatible with the paint under the decals, so that the markings adhere perfectly.

  • Fans of shipboard helicopters
  • Builders in 1:72 scale
  • More advanced beginners and experienced modelers
