German 20 l Jerrycans and 200 l Drums, 1:72 — Bronco

An accessory set of German fuel containers of the Second World War in 1:72 scale from Bronco. It is not a vehicle or aircraft model, but a set of small equipment for dioramas and for vehicles. From its four sprues you will put together 24 20 liter jerrycans and 8 200 liter drums, and two hand pumps go with them. The drums come in two forms, which differ in the pattern of the reinforcing ribs and in the layout of the markings on the end.

What the set is for

Both the jerrycan and the 200 liter drum are among the most common props in a military diorama: they lie by a field refueling point, stand on the bed of a truck, hang in brackets on an armored vehicle or roll around next to wrecked equipment. It is exactly these small things that give a scene its story. The set can be used both with vehicles and in aviation dioramas with airfield ground support.

Building and painting tips

• The jerrycans need no assembly, the drum is in three parts
• Paint the containers separately and place them on the finished scene
• Rust and chipped paint on the edges will give the containers some age
• The hand pump comes alive with a dark wash in the recesses
