A kit of the legendary British sports car in the exceptionally large 1:8 scale from Revell. The eighth scale is among the collectors' sizes: the model is markedly larger than ordinary car kits, and a finished example is a centerpiece of a display cabinet in its own right.
The Jaguar E-Type was built from the start of the 1960s to the middle of the 1970s and to this day it is among the most quoted shapes in the history of the motor car. Its hallmarks are the long, rounded nose with a longitudinally mounted inline six, the low silhouette and the cockpit set far back. Later forms received more powerful engines, and in the USA the car was sold under the designation XK-E. In its day it was a fast and yet relatively accessible sports car, which made it an icon known even to someone with no interest in cars.
A large scale accentuates the behavior of the material. Let the extensive body parts cure thoroughly after gluing, and only then fill and sand them, or the seams will reappear a week later. Spray the finish in several thin coats, sanding between them with very fine paper; one heavy coat on a surface this large will create orange peel. Do not do the chrome elements with a brush; self-adhesive film or a special metallic paint will turn out better. Bear in mind that a finished model needs a great deal of room in a cabinet, and the build itself a good deal of free bench space.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
