The Master Tools Hobby Line Engraver is a scribing tool from manufacturer Master Tools designed for restoring and engraving panel lines on plastic models. A sharp metal point is set into an ABS plastic handle. The tool works with a pulling motion — the point is drawn across the surface and gradually cuts a fine, clean groove. It is a tool, not a kit.

Use

• used to restore panel lines that disappeared after sanding or filling, and to engrave new lines
• draw the point toward you with a pulling motion, repeatedly and with only light pressure, until the groove reaches the desired depth
• always scribe along a ruler or a flexible scribing template so the line stays straight
• try the technique first on a scrap piece of plastic
• suited especially to aircraft, but also to other models with panel lines
