Revell Hobby Tool Kit Basic - a starter set of tools

A basic set of modeling tools that covers every job needed when building a first plastic kit. It contains sprue cutters for separating parts from the sprue, a modeling knife with a replaceable blade, tweezers for small parts, five sanding files in different grits and a cutting mat roughly thirty by thirty-two centimeters. The set therefore offers exactly the tools a build cannot do without.

What the set is for

Each of the tools handles one particular step. The cutters free a part from the sprue without tearing the plastic, the knife removes what is left of the sprue gate and the mold parting line, the sanding files level the surface, and the tweezers hold a small part that fingers could not grip. The mat then protects the table and at the same time gives a flat surface for cutting. It is exactly this combination that separates a clean build from torn plastic and fingerprints.

Use

• Nip the part off at a distance from the plastic and only then trim the rest with the knife.
• Sand in one direction, not in circles.
• Store the knife with the blade retracted or covered.
• Do not expose the mat to heat, as it will warp.
