About product

Desk LED lamp 24 W, 3000 to 6500 K, dimmable - white (FK technics)

A work LED lamp on an articulated arm with a clamp that screws to the top of a desk. It gives 24 W of power draw and roughly 1400 lumens, the light color can be changed continuously in the range of 3000 to 6500 K and the intensity dimmed with buttons on the head. The color rendering index is Ra above 92. It is powered by a safe 24 V supply through a mains adapter.

Why light on a modeling bench is a tool, not an accessory

Without proper light you cannot see what you are doing - and a modeler works with parts a few millimeters across. The worst enemy is the shadow of your own hand: a ceiling fitting casts it exactly where you are looking. A lamp on an arm can be turned so that the light comes from the side and the shadow disappears.

Even more important, though, is the color temperature. Warm light around 3000 K is yellowish and distorts colors. Cool daylight in the range of roughly 5500 to 6500 K matches natural daylight - and only under it do you see shades as they really are. That is fundamental when mixing paint and painting figures: a shade mixed under a yellow bulb looks entirely different in daylight, and the finished model then looks shifted. That is precisely why an adjustable temperature is so valuable - you set daylight for mixing and painting, and a warmer tone for a long build and for sanding, which tires the eyes less. A high Ra means on top of that that the colors do not drift under the lamp, not even in the shadows.

Use

  • Mixing and checking shades in faithful daylight.
  • Painting figures and fine details without a color shift.
  • Working with photo-etched metal, decals and small parts without the shadow of your hand.
  • Dimming to a comfortable level - you will not be dazzled by glossy varnish.

Who the lamp is for

For anyone who spends hours at a bench working on small detail - plastic modelers, figure collectors, railroad modelers and fine electronics and watchmaking work alike. The white finish fits visually into a light workroom.

The lamp is a work tool, not part of a kit. Models, paints and glue are not included in the package.

FAQ

Warm light around 3000 K is yellowish and distorts shades. Daylight in the range of 5500 to 6500 K matches natural daylight, so you see colors as they really are. A shade mixed under a yellow bulb can look entirely different in daylight - which is why you switch to the daylight tone for mixing and painting, and to the warmer one for long work, as it tires the eyes less.

Ra is the color rendering index. The closer to one hundred, the more faithfully the light shows real shades. A value above 92 is very good for painting models and figures - the colors do not drift and you are not mixing blind.

The lamp is fixed with a clamp screwed to the top of a desk, so it does not take up working surface. It is powered by a safe 24 V supply through the mains adapter supplied.

Yes, that is the main reason a work lamp on an arm exists. A ceiling light casts a shadow exactly where you are looking. You turn the arm of the lamp so that the light falls from the side or from above and in front, and the shadow disappears from the working spot.
