Tweezers are the tool on a modeling table that gets used more often than anything else. A small part that you either cannot grip with your fingers or will smear with them is seated exactly where it belongs with tweezers, and above all it can be held until the glue takes. They do the same service when lifting a decal off its backing, when inserting parts into deep places on a model and when holding small pieces during painting. A set has the advantage over a single pair that you choose the shape which suits the job instead of solving everything with one piece.
Use as little pressure as possible. Most bent tips come about from using tweezers as a pry bar or from leaning a whole hand into them. Keep the tips clean, because dried glue on them holds parts where you do not want them. When working on a painted surface, wrap the tips in a strip of tape so that they leave no groove. Look for a part that has flown off by first stopping looking with your eyes and running your palm over the area or shining a light flat across it.
It is a set of tweezers, not a single pair. How many pairs the box contains, what tips they have and how long they are is stated on the packaging and in the manufacturer's information. A straight tip suits ordinary gripping and decals, a bent one the places visible only from above or from the side, and a longer pair reaches inside a fuselage or a hull without turning the whole model around. It pays to try the hold dry before the glue comes into play.
