Acrylic Bases - Round 50 mm (Legion)

Acrylic Bases - Round 50 mm (Legion)

A round acrylic gaming base 50 mm in diameter. It is equipment for tabletop battles, not a decorative plinth. With a gaming base the size is part of the gaming situation: movement, firing ranges and the reach into contact with an opponent are all measured from its edge.

Fifty millimeters and measuring on the board

The middle circular format is usually carried by larger individual models and smaller vehicles. It is precisely with these that a difference in diameter shows first: a base 50 mm in diameter moves the edge two and a half centimeters out from the center of the model on every side, so the model reaches further than the same model on a small disc and at the same time comes into contact sooner. The Legion designation in the name marks out the size range. Which diameter is prescribed for your model you will find in the rules of the system you play.

Practical consequences

• Movement and firing range are measured from the edge of the base, not from the barrel or the hand of the model.
• A larger diameter means earlier contact with an opponent and a wider blocked lane.
• A model on the base stands more stably during moves across the board.
• The same format on every model of a unit simplifies checking the spacing.

Who it is for

For players who need to standardize the middle category of models on one format, and for collectors who want an army to look consistent. The acrylic material is given in the name; the thickness and the color finish are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.
