A water-based acrylic from Green Stuff World, made for figures, gaming models and accessories. It thins with water, dries quickly and takes further coats well. According to the name this is a subdued green with a military cast, that is a shade with reduced saturation.
A subdued shade does not come about by adding gray but by using the complementary color. Green is subdued with a little red or red-brown: the saturation drops, the tone stays, and the result reads as dyed cloth rather than mixed gray. It is precisely here that the line is short, though. Add one drop too much of the complementary color and you overshoot the neutral point, and the green tips over into a muddy brown-gray from which there is no way back except by adding pure green again. A practical method: mix on the palette, not in the bottle, dose the complementary color with the tip of a toothpick and make a test stroke beside it after every drop. When you then add highlights to a subdued green with a saturated yellow-green, the area comes alive again, because a contrast of saturation works just as a contrast of lightness does.
For players who paint an army and want a uniform shade of gear that is readable on the table without being garish. Shake the bottle before use.
