Acrylic Color Red Truth - a red acrylic for figures

Red Truth is a paint from the Acrylic Color line of the brand Green Stuff World, that is a water-based acrylic for painting fantasy figures and models for a gaming table. It thins with water or with an acrylic thinner, the brushes clean with water and it does not mix with lacquers or with oil paints. The shade belongs to the red group.

Red over a dark base: patience instead of force

Red is among the shades that take longest to build over a black or dark gray base. The solution is not to apply a thick coat, because that floods the engraved detail and a visible brush mark stays on the figure. A more reliable method has three steps. First a lighter intermediate coat, ideally a warm earthy or pink tone that supports the saturation of the red. Then two or three thin coats of Red Truth with a pause to dry, applied from the middle of the area toward the edges. And finally shadow in a dark brown or red-brown into the hollows and a highlight on the edges, this time not in white but in orange or a warm cream, because white would cool the red toward pink.

• Unit colors, signs, stripes and heraldry on shields.
• Armor and helmets where the scheme of an army has one unifying saturated color.
• A base under darker red shades or under glazes.

For players whose army rests on a strong color scheme, and for collectors of figures where red is the main color of a character. It is applied with a brush and, once thinned, with an airbrush; try the ratio on a spare part, because a saturated red sprays worse than subdued shades.
