An acrylic modeling paint in the shade Aluminium from the Real Colors range by AK Interactive, manufacturer code RC820. A 17 ml bottle.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Aluminium shade is a base color for unpainted metal surfaces. On aircraft models it covers skin left in bare metal; on vehicles and in interiors it suits panels, covers, tanks and frames, and on small parts, bolts, rods and mechanisms. Lighter and cooler than steel shades, it looks clean and makes a rewarding base on which individual panels can be further differentiated.
Metallic shades reveal every imperfection, since light glides across them. Sand the surface smooth with fine paper before painting, then wash and degrease it; skipped prep shows immediately on an aluminum surface. Mix the bottle thoroughly and lay the paint down in thin, even coats from a consistent distance, or the area will end up blotchy. Thin it with the thinner made for this paint range; the mixing ratio and airbrush pressure are stated by the manufacturer in the instructions on the packaging.
An extensive metal skin should not look uniform. It pays to apply Aluminium over the whole area and then go over selected panels with a different metallic shade, or with Aluminium plus a drop of a darker color, to give the surface some variation. Mask carefully: a smooth metallic coat is prone to lifting, so apply tape only onto fully dried paint, press it down lightly, and peel it off slowly, at an angle from the edge.
For modelers building aircraft with an unpainted metal skin, or who need a light metallic shade for panels and small parts. The bottle contains 17 ml of paint; thinner and other accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
