An Archimedean (spiral) hand drill of the Model Craft brand. Unlike an ordinary chuck, which is turned with the fingers, this drill spins up by pushing on the knurled central ring along the spiral axis — the downward movement spins the bit and a return spring brings the tip back again. Drilling is therefore faster, and it suits above all very small drill bits (roughly up to 1 mm).
For modelers who often drill large numbers of small holes and will appreciate the faster spiral mechanism. A suitable companion to an ordinary hand chuck.
Drill bits are sharp and fragile — work carefully and keep them out of the reach of children.
