Ascona White

Number 5 paint, the shade Ascona White

A modeling paint from the Number 5 range in a white shade that carries the name Ascona White. White is one of those shades on which the quality of the coat shows first of all, which is why it pays to work with it slowly and in thin layers.

Where the color is used

White is a basic shade for bodies, hulls, accessories and small parts, and it also serves as a light base under saturated colors that cover poorly on their own. On a model it can be used over the whole surface or only on parts of it, for instance on accessories and lines where the main color is to stand out.

How to work with the paint

• Stir the contents of the bottle thoroughly; the pigment of white paint settles to the bottom faster than in dark shades.
• Apply several thin coats and let the surface dry between them; one heavy coat floods the detail and dries unevenly.
• White covers less well than dark shades, so on a dark base expect a higher number of coats or use a light primer.
• Thin the paint and clean your tools with the thinner the manufacturer recommends for this range; the information is on the label and in the instructions.
• Wash and degrease the surface of the model before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on smooth plastic.
• Close the bottle carefully after work and wipe the rim, so that the lid comes loose again next time.

Who the paint is for

For modelers who want a shade ready to use and do not mix white themselves. A beginner with a brush can handle it and so can an advanced builder with an airbrush; the difference lies only in the thinning and the number of coats.
