Astral Beryllium 17 ml - an AK interactive 3rd Generation metallic acrylic

Astral Beryllium belongs to the metallic block of the 3rd Generation line, that is among the shades with a metallic pigment. The bottle holds 17 ml and the paint is acrylic, water-based. It is thinned with water or with acrylic thinner and, like the rest of the line, it does not mix with lacquers or enamels.

Use and thinning

• A metallic pigment settles at the bottom faster than an ordinary one, so stir the bottle longer and properly.
• Thin it sparingly for the airbrush; an over-thinned metallic paint loses its sheen and the pigment separates in the cup.
• Spray from a greater distance and at lower pressure so that the metal particles settle evenly.
• With a brush lay it on in one direction, as the strokes leave their mark in the orientation of the pigment on metallics.

Application tips

Metallic paints look better the smoother the base is. It is worth putting a gloss black or dark base underneath them and polishing the surface before spraying, because a matte or grainy base will reliably kill the metal effect. Metallic paints are also harder to go over and harder to mask, since the pigment clings to the tape, so bring them in as late as possible, ideally as the last color coat. If you still need to protect a metallic area, use a clear coat and mask over that.

Who the paint is for

Metallic shades suit engines and exhausts, modern and racing vehicles, science fiction and fantasy subjects and also accessories and figures where the effect of colored metal is needed. An airbrush is best for an even application; a brush can be used on smaller areas and on details.

Keep out of the reach of children and close the bottle well after use. When airbrushing, ventilate and use respiratory protection, as the fine metallic pigment should not be inhaled.
