ATOM COLOR Duck Blue is a modeling paint from the Spanish brand AMMO of Mig Jimenez from the ATOM range. A blue shade from the blue-green part of the ATOM range, neighboring aquamarine and sapphire blue.
Responsibility details are not available.
The shade is named in full ATOM COLOR Duck Blue and in the ATOM range it is placed among the blue tones, with aquamarine and sapphire blue standing right beside it. The name duck blue is a common term for a blue with an admixture of green, that is a tone close to the teal or turquoise area. Watch out for a mix-up: the range also carries separately a shade named Duck Egg, which is an established term for an entirely different, markedly lighter color of the RAF. These are two different items.
The paint suits modelers looking for a more striking blue with a shift toward green, whether on civilian vehicles, on ships, or on figures and gaming bases. It also proves itself as an additional tone for mixing, because it lies between pure blue and turquoise. If you are after the light shade of the RAF, reach for the item marked Duck Egg, not for this one.
Mix the paint thoroughly before use, so that the shade is the same throughout the bottle. Apply it in several thin coats rather than one heavy one; the engraved detail and the edges of a casting then stay legible. Try the shade first on an offcut of sprue, because the same paint looks different on a light base and on a dark one. For the method of application, the drying time and the preparation of the surface, go by the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. Work in a well-ventilated room and keep the paint out of the reach of children.
