A metallic red from the ATOM line of the brand AMMO of Mig Jimenez. Metallic shades contain fine metal particles that turn toward the light in the coat, so the surface changes tone with the viewing angle. They suit anywhere a surface should look lacquered and deep: the bodywork and panels of vehicles and motorcycles, tanks, accessories and small details meant to catch the light in a display case.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before use; with metallic shades this counts double, because the metal pigment settles to the bottom faster than the color component and an unstirred paint leaves the surface uneven. The thinner intended for this line and the thinning ratio are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging, and the same applies when cleaning the airbrush. The base must be smooth and degreased, because a metallic coat tends to emphasize every scratch rather than hide it. Lay the paint in thin coats and let each one become tacky.
The shade under the coat will affect the result: over a dark base the metallic red reads more saturated, over a light one more lively. Try it on a piece of scrap plastic rather than straight on the model. A dry metallic surface is easily marred by a touch or by adhesive tape, so handle the part carefully and mask as gently as you can. A final clear coat usually subdues the metallic effect, so test that beforehand too. Close the bottle carefully after use and store it dry, away from frost and direct sunlight.
