The span given in the name takes in five steps of the graded range: 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 mm. Compared with the finer counterpart, which ends at 0.7 mm, these heads are markedly easier to see and will take ordinary modeling handling without a magnifier.
The greater the load a place on a real machine carries, the heftier the screw the designer puts there. That is why the coarser end of the range comes into its own at frame bolts, at engine mounts, at exhaust brackets or at the clamping of the rear end.
