A head 0.9 mm in diameter with a hexagonal recess. A prominent step that works on the surface of a model as a point for the eye to catch on.
Responsibility details are not available.
A model with nowhere to stop the eye comes across as flat. 0.9 mm is the size at which small hardware becomes a prominent element: the head already has area enough to catch a reflection, and the hexagonal recess in the middle gives it a legible pattern. Placed in the right spot it works as an anchor around which the viewer puts the rest together.
In the 1:12 ratio it comes to a real head of 10.8 mm. Screws like that hold the footpeg plates, the mounting of a brake caliper or the lower part of the rear frame on a motorcycle, for example.
The metal look can be shifted into several positions without repainting the whole head. Dark enamel paint thinned with thinner flows into the recess and brings it out. A dry brush in a shade lighter than its surroundings, by contrast, draws out the edges and the head gains the rubbing that comes from repeated tightening with a key. Either takes a minute and lasts under matte varnish.
The aging effect makes sense stepped according to the place. The joints near the exhaust and the engine will take more, while the hardware on the fairing stays clean, because nobody touches it regularly. The same rule goes for the layer of dust: it settles from the bottom upward, never evenly over the whole machine.
