Imitations of screws with a round head and an internal hex in the 1.2 mm size. A version 0.2 mm larger for more prominent joints.

Screws with a round head and an internal hex in the 1.2 mm size, commonly described as Allen screws. Compared with the finer sizes this element is 0.2 mm larger, which shows on a model more than it might seem: the head is more distinctly rounded, the hole in the middle larger and the whole joint legible even without a magnifier. It therefore suits places where the screw is meant to be seen, as well as larger scales.
On real machines the internal hex holds parts where there is little room for a key or where the head is to stay low: engine covers, clutch caps, brake calipers, the mounting of handlebars and footpegs, frame lugs, tank brackets. On a model the sizes can be used deliberately to set the main load-bearing joints apart from the small ones; the larger size, moreover, will take being looked at from close by.
Level and degrease the surface under the element and mark the position with a shallow recess. Carry the glue in a minute amount on the tip of a wire or a toothpick, so that it does not flow into the hole in the head. Apply the paint in a thin layer; the larger head will take a light polish or a dry brush over the top of the dome, which imitates the rubbing from a key. A dark wash in the hole gives depth.
For modelers who want the sizes of the joints set apart on a machine, and for detailing clearly visible assemblies. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
