The engine hangs in the frame on several plates and through-pins, and these are the heftiest joints of the whole machine. To them are added the assemblies where the frame divides and is bolted together, the mounting of the center stand and the clamping of the wheel axle in the fork ends. The heads here tend to come with large washers and a locking device often appears beneath them, because the loosening of such a joint would have immediate consequences.
1.2 millimeters is the upper limit of what is sold individually under this designation. On a model it suits everywhere it is to be clear at first glance that this is a load-bearing part of the structure and not a cover. At the same time there tend not to be many such places on a machine, usually a handful, so coarse heads are not to be sown about across the board.
The most common mistake in adding them afterward is using one size everywhere. A real machine has heads of several sizes and it is exactly their difference that tells what is loaded and what merely covers. It therefore pays to start from the heftiest assemblies, only then to come down to the finer steps, and to leave the coarse size solely where it fits.
