A package of hexagon heads covering five sizes from 0.8 to 1.2 mm. One stock for a whole build with no topping up.

The range from 0.8 to 1.2 millimeters matches what you really need most on a motorcycle model: the joints on the frame, the engine, the brakes and the suspension. Anyone who makes these parts one at a time out of wire will spend more time preparing a stock than on the build itself, and a few pieces will disappear on him during painting anyway. A ready-made stock in five sizes removes that risk.
Above all the chance to decide as he works. When you find that the size you picked comes across as too hefty on a bracket, you reach for the neighboring one without setting the build aside for weeks until more arrives. On long projects that matters more than it seems at first glance.
Divide the model into groups by how close to the viewer the individual parts lie. On the front and on the upper surface choose a more careful fitting and rather a lower number of joints; on the underside and the rear area you can work faster. The resulting impression is made by the places the eye falls on first.
Put the pieces you have not used away sorted; once the sizes are mixed they can be told apart only with a gauge.
If you are building two models of the same machine side by side, keep to the same choice of sizes on both. The difference would be conspicuous in exactly the comparison you cannot avoid in a display case.
Lay the work out over several shorter sittings; attention drops quickly when fitting small items.
