Nineteen tenths of a millimeter, the penultimate grade of the grid. For large scales and the coarsest joint groups on a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The dimensional family this item belongs to ends at two millimeters. Nineteen tenths is therefore the penultimate rung, and with it we come to the sizes that make sense mainly in large scales. 1:9 for motorcycle kits, 1:16 for tracked machinery or 1:24 for commercial vehicles: everywhere there it is a dimension that is visible even without a magnifier.
The way a surface is composed with such pieces is interesting. While the fine grades are used by the dozen and form a texture rather than anything else, here the matter is individual elements that the builder lays out one by one, weighing in each case whether it belongs there. A head of this size placed wrongly is visible on a finished model from a meter away.
Combine shapes, not just sizes: on a real machine a hex neighbors a rivet as well as a head with an internal recess, because each joint group is taken apart with a different frequency. A model in which everything is hexagonal looks schematic, even if the proportions are right.
Before buying it pays to compare the dimension with the wall thickness of the part the head is to go into. With thin-walled castings it happens that the hole for the shank breaks right through to the inside, and then the space behind it has to be filled first. The check takes a minute, repairing a cracked wall considerably longer.
