A drum of 200 liters is one of the most common objects to be found around vehicles. Fuel, oil and water were stored in it, it was carried on cargo beds, it stood outside workshops, at refueling points and on railway ramps. In a scene it therefore does two jobs: it fills an empty spot and at the same time tells the viewer what that spot was used for.
The set brings 200 liter drums in 1:35 scale, the scale usual for vehicle models and for scenes with figures. How many pieces the package contains and whether it also holds accessories such as caps or lids is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down so that the shape of the hoop is preserved. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material; parts that are not polystyrene hold with cyanoacrylate glue. The shade and the markings of drums varied by army, by operator and by period, so it is worth working from a period photograph. Drums almost never stand in a neat row: some lie down, some are dented, and rust and spilled oil collect on the lower hoops and around the caps. Set standing drums on a level surface so that they do not hang above the ground, and sink the lying ones slightly into the base.
The set belongs in the hands of a scene builder and a vehicle modeler who wants the surroundings of the vehicle inhabited by small things. It will also serve as cargo on a bed or on a trailer. The paints, the glue and the vehicle model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
