BLUE - Ink

Mr.Paint Blue - Ink, an acrylic paint for figures

This is neither a kit nor an accessory for a model but a model paint. Blue - Ink is a blue shade from the Aqua Figure range of the Slovak brand Mr.Paint, that is from the line of water-thinned acrylics meant specifically for figures and miniatures. The paint comes in a bottle of 17 ml and has a matte surface once it has dried.

What an ink shade is and what it is not

In this range the inks are thinner than the basic opaque shades and have less covering power. As a rule they do not serve as a first coat on a bare casting but for toning, shading and glazing a surface that is already painted. The blue ink suits deepening shadows in the folds of cloth, toning metal surfaces and unifying the transitions between light and shade. If you need full coverage, lay down a basic opaque shade first and use the ink over it.

Use

• it is thinned and cleaned with water, and no solvent thinner is needed
• it is applied with a brush, and with an airbrush once thinned
• shake the bottle thoroughly before use
• work in thin coats and let each one dry
• seal the finished figure with a matte or satin varnish

Who the paint is for

For figure painters working in scales from 1:72 to 1:35 and for modelers of equipment who want to unify and deepen the shades on a finished model afterwards. The paint can be combined with acrylics from other manufacturers, but always try that on a test piece first rather than straight on the model.

The paint is water-thinned and needs no special precautions in normal handling. Even so, work in a ventilated room, protect the bottle from frost and keep it out of the reach of children.
