Constructo brass eyelets 2 x 3 mm, 30 pieces are small metal grommets for ship models. They are used where a line is to pass through a hole and must not cut its way into the wood.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of thirty small brass eyelets measuring 2 x 3 mm intended for building ship models. This is modeling material, not a kit: the eyelets serve as attachment points and lead-throughs for rigging, as eyes for blocks or as small fittings on the deck and the sides of the hull.
On a wooden model you need dozens of places where a line is made fast or changes direction. An eyelet makes sure the pull of the line is carried by a metal part and not by the wood itself, which would cut through over time. At the same time it looks like a real fitting on the finished model, because brass has a depth and a sheen that painted plastic cannot match. The smaller size means the eyelets can also be used on smaller models, where ordinary rings would be disproportionately large.
Pre-drill the hole in the wood with a bit slightly smaller than the shank of the eyelet, otherwise the wood will split along the grain. Seat the eyelet with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy and wipe the surplus away at once, because a dried drop shows on brass. If you want the eyelets not to be shiny, use a patinating solution for brass, or prime and spray them before fitting. Holding a small part while gluing is easiest with curved tweezers. Count on a few pieces being lost on the floor; small fittings are worth buying with a reserve.
This is modeling material. A model, glue, tools and paints are not included in the package.
