This is a metal raw material for building models, not a kit or a finished part. The package contains two pieces of brass section of hexagonal cross-section of a size of 1.5 millimeters and a length of 245 millimeters. The material is meant for making your own parts, for replacing simplified plastic details and for stiffening places under load on a model. In modeling the hexagonal cross-section is used above all where bolts, nuts, pins and rod elements with visible flats have to be imitated.
Brass is cut with nippers for metal or with a fine saw in a saw frame. With exact cuts it pays to clamp the rod and to cut slowly, so that no burr is left. Level the ends with a fine cut file. Soft soldering holds very well on brass and the joint is stronger than a glued one, but when building mixed assemblies of plastic and metal, superglue or epoxy is used. Before painting, degrease the surface with spirit and apply a primer for metal, because brass is smooth and paint otherwise does not hold on it.
For modelers who modify kits beyond their original contents, add missing details or build parts of a model from scratch. It will find a use with equipment, aircraft and ships alike, as well as in building dioramas. More experienced builders make their own connecting elements from it; a beginner will use it mainly as a firm stiffener where a plastic part will not carry a load.
This is a material, not a kit. Tools, glue and paints are not included in the package. When cutting metal, protect your eyes, as small chips fly off.
