Brush

Mirage Hobby Round Brush, Natural Bristles, Size 2

A round brush from the Polish manufacturer Mirage Hobby, from its natural bristle range, in size 2. It is sold as a single piece. This is not a kit or a set — it is a paint-application tool you buy separately for your model. A round shape means the bristles converge to a point: the brush can therefore hold a reasonable amount of paint while still keeping a fine tip for precise work. Size 2 is one of the most widely used in modeling — large enough to paint smaller assemblies (wheels, exhausts, tanks, interior parts), yet fine enough for outlining details. Natural bristles generally hold paint and a point better than ordinary synthetic fibers and are pleasant to work with for enamel and oil paints.

Use

• Painting smaller parts and interior sections where an airbrush would be overkill.
• Detail work — instrument panels, straps, tools, vehicle and figure gear.
• Hand-applying enamels, acrylics and oil paints; it also handles stippling and light shading.
• Applying a wash or paint into smaller recesses where you want control over the amount.

Care of the Brush

Clean the brush right after use with the thinner that matches the paint used (acrylic — water or acrylic thinner; enamel — mineral spirits/enamel thinner). Dried paint near the ferrule will ruin a brush beyond repair. Never store it point-down in thinner — the bristles will bend and the point is gone. When painting, do not press on the bristles; apply paint with the tip, not by scrubbing. After washing, gently shape the bristles back into a point and let it dry flat or point-up.

Who It Is For

For modelers who want a solid mid-size brush for everyday work without reaching for the priciest premium brands. It serves beginners and advanced modelers alike as a versatile piece to have in a kit of tools.

This is a modeling accessory, not a kit. Paints, thinners and glue are not included in the package. When cleaning with solvent-based thinners, ventilate the room and protect your skin.
