A modeling paint from Hataka's Orange Line. The shade carries the name Light Aircraft Grey and the designation BS 381C:627. BS 381C is a British standard of color shades in which every shade has its own number; paint makers refer to it so that it is clear which original a shade comes close to and so that it can be compared across brands. The number 627 in this system belongs precisely to the light aircraft gray.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before use. The pigment settles at the bottom, and unstirred paint gives a different shade and a different degree of sheen than you expect. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging, so always the thinner intended for this line. Spray in thin coats and let them become tacky in between; one heavy coat floods the engraving and rounds off the edges. The paint holds best on a washed, degreased and primed surface.
Light grays are treacherous on large areas. In the bottle they look different than on a wing, and different in daylight and in artificial light. So it pays to spray a test sample on a spare piece of plastic, let it dry and decide only by that. In small scales modelers lighten large areas a little so that the model does not look heavy.
The paint itself is supplied. Thinner, primer and varnish are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
