What the sheet offers

The sheet carries a print of the German army camouflage pattern designated Steppentarn. It serves to get a ready drawing of camouflage onto a model or into a scene without laborious spraying with stencils. The pattern is printed in one piece, so the patches run on from one another just as they do on real cloth and no difference arises between areas that would otherwise be painted separately.

The self-adhesive form

The elements are self-adhesive. That matters with them: they are not soaked in water and no softener is needed. Soaking would damage a self-adhesive film beyond repair, so work with it dry. Before applying, the base must be clean, smooth and degreased, because the film does not hold on a dusty or greasy surface and in time it lifts at the corners.

Application tips

First trace the shape you need from the area it is to go onto and cut it out with a sharp blade on a mat, not on the model. Lay the film on from one edge and press it gradually toward the other, so that no air closes under it. Pierce any bubble that does appear with the tip of the blade and press it down. On slightly curved areas work in smaller pieces, as a flat film will not be drawn over a sharp edge without creasing. Check and press the edges again once it is applied, because it is precisely in the corners that the film lifts first. If you are also completing the area on the model with paint, match the shade of the surroundings to the print on the sheet before you apply the film.
