The C-160 Transall is a twin-engine turboprop tactical transport aircraft with a high-mounted wing and a cargo ramp at the rear. It came out of a joint French and German program and its task was to carry cargo and paratroops to short and unprepared strips where a larger transport machine could not operate. It stayed in service for several decades and went through a series of modifications and specialized versions.
