Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Sukhoi Su-17 fighter-bomber in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian maker Modelsvit. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Modelsvit is one of the brands known for fine engraved surface detail and a well-worked cockpit; the molds are more of the short-run kind, so the build calls for more careful handling and fitting of the parts.
The Su-17 was the first Soviet production aircraft with a variable-geometry wing. It came about as a deep modernization of the older Su-7, and the outer sections of its wing swung according to the flight regime, which improved its take-off and landing qualities and its range. It served as a fighter-bomber and a strike aircraft and, in many versions and export variants (under the reporting name Fitter), flew with the Soviet Air Force and with a number of friendly air forces for decades.
With short-run molds it pays to try the parts dry first and to cut and sand the excess material away carefully. Use a thin modeling cement on the plastic, and fill and sand the joints. Apply a primer before painting; an airbrush is ideal for an even coat of camouflage schemes. Trying the swinging wing before gluing it in and then fixing it in one position is recommended.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
