A cutting mat measuring 200 by 270 millimeters, made for cutting out masking templates for camouflage.
Responsibility details are not available.
A modeler often makes a masking template himself: he sticks tape onto a smooth surface, traces the shape and cuts it out with a blade. That is exactly what this cutting mat is made for, as its name also says. The cut runs on the mat, not on the desktop, so the desktop stays free of scratches and the blade is not blunted on a hard surface. At the same time the work is more precise, because the edge does not slip on the varnish of the desk and can be led where it should go.
The mat measures 200 by 270 millimeters. It is therefore slightly smaller than a sheet of A4 format, which measures 210 by 297 millimeters, and it fits even a small workbench beside a model under construction. The size matches what it is made for: masking shapes for a model tend to be small and no large area is needed to cut them out. The mat can be kept to hand at all times and put aside without taking up the whole bench.
Always work with a fresh blade; a blunt one does not cut tape cleanly and the edge of the template then stays frayed. Do not press the blade with force; make several light strokes along the same track, and the shape will come out more precisely while the mat is cut into less. Lift the cut template with tweezers and stick it onto the model before spraying; once the paint has dried there is no point. Store the mat flat and away from heat so that it does not warp.
The mat is supplied on its own. A blade, a scalpel, masking tape and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
