AK Interactive Dark Rust, Acrylic Paint 17 ml

Dark Rust is a dark red brown to brown black rust shade from the 3rd Generation Acrylics range by AK Interactive. It is a modeling paint, not a kit - in the package you will find one dropper bottle with a capacity of 17 ml. The paint is water-thinnable, heavily pigmented, dries flat and is suitable for brush and airbrush.

Rust Is Not One Color

Realistic corrosion cannot be mixed from a single pot. It comes from layering several shades: the light one belongs up on the edges and freshly scraped spots, the medium one forms the overall base and the dark one goes down - into recesses, gaps, shadows and under overhangs. In that structure Dark Rust is the darkest, lowest and shadow layer. It gives rust depth and separates the individual areas from one another; without it corrosion looks flat and artificial. It works best combined with Medium Rust and Light Rust - ideally all three shades together.

Use

• Old, settled and long-neglected corrosion - wrecks standing for years and laid-up vehicles.
• Deep recesses, gaps, seams, corners and places under overhangs.
• Shadows inside large rusted areas that are meant to gain depth.
• A dark base under lighter rust shades and under chipping.
• Applied with a brush, stippled with a sponge or airbrushed; thinned with water.

Who the paint is for

For modelers of military vehicles, diorama builders and makers of wrecks, ships, trains and industrial scenes where corrosion is meant to look old and deep. The dropper package allows precise dosing drop by drop and easy mixing of transitions between the dark and the medium rust.
