Abteilung 502 Dark Violet is a modeling acrylic paint in a dark violet shade, suitable for applying with a brush and with an airbrush once thinned.
Responsibility details are not available.
A dark violet shade from the acrylic line of the Abteilung 502 brand. The binder is acrylic, that is water-thinnable, which is the fundamental difference against the oil and enamel products of the same brand, which are thinned differently and do not mix with acrylic in a wet coat. Violet is among the shades a modeler seldom applies over large areas, but uses abundantly on accessories, uniforms, fabrics, fantasy subjects and above all as an additive for dark shadows, where it looks livelier than black.
Out of the bottle the paint is thicker, so that it covers well under a brush. For an airbrush always thin it, and do so gradually, in small amounts, until you reach a consistency resembling thin cream. It is thinned with water or with a thinner intended for acrylics. Alcohol and lacquer thinner do not belong in it; they would curdle the binder and the paint would break down into flakes in the bottle or in the cup. At the same time, thinned paint covers less well, so it is better to apply several thin coats than one thick one, which would flood the engraving and the surface texture.
For modelers and figure painters who build a palette from individual shades and want to mix them with one another. Anyone who paints equipment exclusively to period color charts will reach for it only marginally, as a correcting color for mixes.
Close the container carefully after use and stir the contents thoroughly before using it again. When spraying, work in a ventilated space and protect your airways. Keep out of the reach of children and protect from frost.
