Silver is among the shades that always find a use on the workbench. It is used on exhausts, wheel hubs, rims, engine parts, the edges of tools and to imitate a scuffed coat with metal showing through beneath it. This shade comes from the Premium Color range from the brand Vallejo, that is, from acrylic paints intended for modeling use.
Metallic paints behave differently from opaque shades. The metal pigment is heavier and settles while standing, so shake the paint thoroughly before every use until it has an even consistency. The resulting sheen is the deeper the smoother the surface beneath is; on a rough surface silver turns gray and looks dusty.
Put on thin coats and let them become tacky. Thin and clean according to the manufacturer's instructions, as a foreign thinner can curdle the paint. Do not touch dried metallic areas with your fingers, as fingerprints show in the sheen. If you need to varnish over the area, try the combination first on an offcut of plastic.
The paint will be used by builders of aircraft, vehicles and figures, in short everywhere a metal surface is needed. Thinner, brushes and an airbrush are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
