Madworks Neron, a synthetic modeling brush

A modeling brush with synthetic bristles from the Neron line by the Taiwanese brand Madworks. The whole line is built for acrylic paints: synthetic bristles do not dry out in them the way natural hair does, they spring back and they return to shape after washing. The Neron line covers pointed brushes in several sizes as well as flat, angular, round, dry and weathering shapes.

Use

• finishing by hand the details that cannot be sprayed
• painting figures, interiors and small equipment
• spot repairs after masking and after decals
• applying washes and picking out engraved lines
• work with acrylic paints, which synthetic bristles take best

How to keep the brush in condition

The commonest cause of a ruined brush is paint that dries at the metal ferrule and splays the bristles. So load paint only into the lower half of the bristle length and rinse before it starts to set. Wash acrylics out with water, enamels and lacquers with the matching thinner. After washing, draw the bristles back into shape between your fingers and let them dry lying down or with the bristles upward, never resting on the tip in the bottom of a jar. Do not leave the brush standing in thinner; it breaks down the adhesive in the ferrule.

For modelers and figure painters who want to replace the brush packed with a kit with something that lasts. Before you buy, check which shape and size you need: the Neron line offers several and each behaves differently. Paints and thinners are not included in the package.
