Westland Wessex HC.2 — a resin exhaust with F.O.D. covers in 1:72 scale from Quickboost (Aires). An aftermarket resin part for the Airfix kit; it is not a standalone model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an aftermarket resin detail part from Quickboost (Aires) that replaces the exhaust of the Westland Wessex HC.2 helicopter and adds protective covers against foreign objects, the F.O.D. covers. It is not a model of the helicopter — it is a replacement part for a plastic kit, specifically for the kit from Airfix, which you have to own.
F.O.D. covers (from the English Foreign Object Damage) are the caps with which the exhaust and the engine intakes of a parked machine are closed, so that dirt, small objects or birds do not get inside. The resin part is cast more sharply and more faithfully than the plastic part from the kit and gives a model on a ground stand the realistic look of a secured, parked machine. The Westland Wessex HC.2 was a British multirole transport helicopter of the RAF used to carry troops and for rescue duties.
Separate the part carefully from the casting block — best with a saw or a cut, not by twisting it off — sand the surface and fit it dry. Resin is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), as ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on it. Before painting, wash the mold release agent off the part, spray it with a primer and then paint it after the original.
The detail part is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
