A finished model tree from the German maker HEKI, sixteen centimeters tall. The copper beech is not an autumn tree, as it might seem at first glance, but an ornamental form of the common beech with dark red to purple leaves throughout the season. On a model that is an important difference: such a tree belongs in a park, in a manor garden or on a village green, that is, where somebody planted it deliberately, not in open woodland.
The tree is pushed into a pre-drilled hole or glued by the foot of the trunk. Because this is a planted ornamental species, set it somewhere that makes sense: in a park, on a lawn, by a building. Under the tree leave a mown lawn or a gravel surface, not wild vegetation. Spread the flattened crown carefully with your fingers after unpacking. A single red tree in a scene is enough; two already start to read as autumn.
For builders of layouts and dioramas with park and urban greenery and for modelers who want a color accent in a scene without shifting the season. This is modeling material, not a toy. The manufacturer marks its scenery products as unsuitable for children under fifteen.
