Two pieces of foil with the relief of stone rock, each measuring 40 x 18 cm. One piece therefore covers 720 square centimeters and both foils together 1440. The smaller format suits places where the point is not a continuous face across a whole scene but individual features: an outcrop above a road, exposed rock in the bend of a stream, the foot of a slope by a bridge or a quarry in the background.
A pair of separate pieces gives more freedom than one large area. You can use them in two different places in a scene, or join them into a longer face. In the second case do not run the joint vertically over the whole height; interrupt it with a break in the terrain, a stone, a bush or the trunk of a tree, so that the eye does not find a regular line. It is also useful to sacrifice one piece for offcuts and to fill out small outcrops or a fall of debris at the foot of a face with them.
The foil is cut with scissors and formed over a surface, so it will manage irregular shapes too. First build the rough shape of the rock, lay the foil in dry, trace it and cut it with a small overlap. Only then glue it with a glue that matches the material of the surface; try how it behaves on an offcut. Once dry, unify the relief with a dark wash into the crevices and go over the edges with a dry brush and a paler shade. At the foot of the face suggest fallen rubble and self-seeded growth, so that the rock does not end in nothing.
The package holds two pieces of foil of the size given. The glue, the paints, backing material and growth are not included, unless stated otherwise.
